About Harriet Wade

I am a freelance book editor and publisher based in London. I am originally from Australia and I have almost a decade of experience in both literary and commercial publishing. I have worked with prize-winning and bestselling authors, and many self-published authors. To hear from some of my authors, click here.

My experience

Over the last decade I have had the pleasure of working in both literary indie presses (Pushkin Press and triple Booker prize-winner Oneworld Publications) and big 5 corporate publishers (Bookouture, a division of Hachette). I specialise in developing and nurturing an author’s creative voice while applying a data-led lens to the book’s place in a competitive landscape.

I have acquired and edited over a hundred books across most genres, including award winners, bestsellers, and cult favourites with devoted fans. Selected highlights include John Vercher’s Three-Fifths (a Sunday Times, FT and Guardian Book of the Year), bestselling book club fiction series from Ann O’Loughlin, WW2 fiction from Catherine Hokin and cozy crime from Katie Gayle.

How can I help you tell your story?

There are two ways:

  • Editorial assessment and feedback

  • I can help you self-publish your novel, offering everything along the way from concept development, marketing and publishing on Amazon
